WHERE THE HUCKLEBERRIES HIDE

On a planet made of blue oceans and green spaces,
tides turn, continents creak.

In a land made of wild rivers and rocky cliffs,
fires burn, rain falls.

With a view made of soft hills and sharp mountains,
sun shines, shade sits.

On a mountain made of white peaks and windy roads,
rocks crumble, snow falls.

In a forest made of small creatures and tall trees,
flowers open, deer run.

Near a path made of dry leaves and border grass,
bushes wiggle, dirt slides.

On a bush made of delicate buds and long roots,
leaves uncurl, flowers pop.

Under a leaf made of bumpy edges and red stems,
bugs crawl, berries grow.

This is where the huckleberries hide,
and that’s a bear!

Be quiet.
Don’t move.

Close your eyes,
and dream of huckleberry pie,
for you,
and the bear.
