Storytelling Science
Inspired by Zooey & Sassafras (Citro & Lindsay) and Science Comics…these stories start with the idea that a first grader might ask the librarian for a non-fiction book about unicorns and a teacher is new ways to teach existing standards for Next Gen Science curriculum. This series is designed for girls but loved by boys. Each book provides a creative way for teachers or parents to teach science, in the classroom or at home: The Strange & Beautiful Science Of Unicorns, The Not-So-Ordinary Science Of Daisies, The Almost Lost Science Of Giant Pandas. Unicorns teach kids how rainbows and glitter work or…refraction and reflection. Daisies teach kids how plants live and grow and multiply. Giant pandas teach kids how wind and water can slowly or quickly change the shape of land. For each grade level, Science Stories is a set of illustrated zines. Each book is ~400 words of story-making, with add-on science or maker activities to reinforce specific curriculum or to engage the reader after reading.
