Kid-Sized Kindness
During the winter holidays, kids talked incessantly about what they want to get from Santa: I want, I want, I want. Inspired by Elf On The Shelf (Carol Aebersold) and Press Here (Herve Tullet)…a little gnome knocks on the front door to introduce a new holiday tradition. This little snow gnome teaches kids how to write a giving wish because the holidays are about gift-giving, not getting: Let’s Go Gnome For The Holidays. In this series, there is a gnome for every season and each one teaches a different type of kindness: giving, saying thank you, taking care of something. In spring, a dirt gnome teaches kids how to say thank you to nature: This Garden Is My Gnome. In the summer, a beach gnome teaches kids how to clean-up the ocean: Leave Gnome Footprints In The Sand. When the leaves start to fall and the days are cold and dark, a sidewalk gnome teaches kids how to be kind to neighbors: A Smile Is For Every Gnome. Each book is ~400 words of kid-sized kindness.
Last year, during the winter holidays, my kids talked incessantly about what they want to get from Santa: I want, I want, I want. Inspired by Elf On The Shelf (Carol Aebersold) and Press Here (Herve Tullet)…a little mochi knocked on our front door to introduce a new holiday tradition. This little snow mochi taught my kids how to write a giving wish because the holidays are about gift-giving, not getting: Hello Mochi, Let It Snow! There is a mochi for every season and each one teaches a different type of kindness: giving, saying thank you, taking care of something. In spring, a dirt mochi teaches kids how to say thank you to nature: Hello Mochi, How Does Your Garden Grow? In the summer, a beach mochi teaches kids how to clean-up the ocean: Hello Mochi, Let’s Go Surfing! In the fall, a sidewalk mochi teaches kids how to be kind to neighbors: Hello Mochi, How Does Your City Sleep? Each book is ~400 words and 32 pages of kindness.
